Before I comment on christian teen dating let's
see what is dating. According to Dictionary.com, dating is
defined as an engagement to go out socially with another
person, often out of romantic interest. I know you must be
asking when is the right teen age to start dating. What's
the real purpose of dating as a christian?
We might have a
heart that is saved by the blood of Jesus but our thinking
could well be just like the rest of world, if not Paul would
not tell us in Romans 12:2, And be not conformed to this
world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I believe most teenagers do not have the right level of
emotional stability and maturity to handle the issues of romance.
The truth is, most adults are also not completely equipped
with the level of skills required of a relationship as can
be seen from the amount of anti-depressants that have been
dispensed and the amount of money divorce lawyers are raking
in from failed marriages.
There is obviously no right or wrong age to date or marry but I believe most
people including teenagers are entering into relationships
for the wrong reasons, they want 'love' but end up equating
physically closeness to love.
I was once a teenager myself
and I mistook love for many other things other than the love
that was defined in the bible. I rationalize a lot and yes I
was hurt and have also hurt the other person in the process.
So I can really identify with the message the BarlowGirls are teaching in their
Christian rock music concernts.
But hey, if you have been hurt before, God waste nothing.
Karen is a wonderful example of how God
can use anyone regardless of your past for His glory.

July 11, 2005 18:30 - Man made
christian dating rules
After God made men on the 5th day, the first
thing God said to them was this, Be fruitful and increase in
number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of
the sea and the birds of the air and over every living
creature that moves on the ground. The ONLY time God laid
down a rule of MUST NOT is when he commanded man, You are
free to eat from any tree in the garden but you are must not
eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, or when
you eat of it you will surely die.
Rules are not useless, and they are necessary but when
they are imposed upon by man without the Holy Spirit, they
only make us go into denials and abstinence. But you and I
know exterior regulations in themselves never change the
heart. Trying to adhere to christian dating rules without
having a relationship or connection with God do not change
our carnal nature.
So does it mean you can now live lawlessly and do
whatever you want? Date a non christian, ignore all physical
boundaries etc. Friends we need to walk with God ever more
closely than rules to stifle us. Walk in the Spirit,
and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh - Galatians

July 15, 2005 16:14 - Stop Sex
Trafficking
Buy a T-Shirt and stop Sex Trafficking!
SUPPORT WOMEN MAKE A DIFFERENCE'S FIGHT AGAINST CHILD
SEX TOURISM & SEX TRAFFICKING!
I know this has nothing to do with dating whatsoever but
I urge all you christians out there to lend a helping for
this worthy cause. Each year some 18,000 women and children
are sold into prostitution, most of them tricked or coerced,
locked up and repeatedly beaten and raped to "break" them.
Some of them are as young as nine.
Singapore lies in the centre of 12 of the most active
"trade centres" for child sex. What's more, Singaporean men
form the biggest group of sex tourists in places like Batam
and south Thailand, and Singaporeans reportedly have sex
with girls as young as 14.*
Women Make A Difference (WMD) International is calling
upon women in Singapore and all over the world to make a
difference to these girls and women. Fight the battle
against sex trafficking on two levels:
we financially support the shelters that offer housing,
food and rehabilitation for the victims
we make a loud noise against injustices committed right
in our backyard by men.
Net proceeds of this T-shirt, which symbolises a united
womanhood fighting crimes committed against children and
women in this world, will go to the National Committee of
UNIFEM, Singapore, which will distribute funding to these
shelters that are tending to the victims. The cost of each
T-shirt is SG$39.30 or approximately US$23.75.
Their aim is to sell 900 T-shirts between July and
end-September. The AVAILABLE SIZES are:
XS (34" bust)
S (36" bust)
M (40" bust)
L (42"
bust)
Help WMD make a tangible difference to the lives of these
children and women. Please spread this message as far and
wide as you can. We thank you for being our mouths, arms and
legs.

July 21, 2005 10:14 - Christian
Dating And Some Four Letter Words
The 2 four letter words I want to talk about
today is love and lust. Contrary to what most christian
singles believe, the opposite of Love is not
Hate but Lust. The majority of the problems I
see in most christian singles dating is contributed by lust,
our idea of what love is has been given a makeover by the
world, we are taught to yield to our flesh. We are told to
blame it on our hormones and on the media but I personally
think the main culprit is lack of understanding of what love
is, the way our Creator intended Love to be. You might
understand this truth but is the truth living in your
relationship. Or is it a one sided affair a result of dating
someone of a different spiritual maturity.
So how does one know what what we are experiencing is
love but not lust. Here are some pointers for you to think
about:
Love is sacrificial, Lust is selfish.
Love is giving,
Lust is taking.
Love is salvation, Lust is
sexual.
Love is pain, Lust is pleasure.
Love is
controlled, Lust is unrestrained.
Love is about others,
Lust is about you.
Love is an act of worship, Lust is
idolatry.
Love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Lust is
the fruit of the flesh.
According to my NIV bible, lust is mentioned 4 times and
love about a few hundred times, and the best definition of
love can be found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, Love is patient,
love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not
proud, it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not
easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not
delight in the evil. But rejoieces with the truth. It always
protects, always hopes, always perseveres.
Here are some good articles on Lust can be found here:
Love or Lust
Lust: Christian View
The way we gratify our lust or flesh is through sex or
pornography or masturbation, instead of using our body the
way God meant it to be, we abuse it. You might be dating a
christian today but what's his/her idea of acceptable sex
standards?
